Inviting someone to Alpha can feel intimidating. What if they say no? What if it gets awkward?
Here's the good news: you don't have to have all the answers. You don't need the perfect words. An invitation is simply that—an invitation.
Many people who attend Alpha come because someone they trust personally invited them.
Start with Prayer
Before you invite someone, pause and pray.
Ask God to bring someone to mind who might be asking questions about life, purpose, or faith. Trust that the Holy Spirit is already at work in people's lives—and that your invitation may simply be the next step in a conversation God has already begun.

Keep It Personal
The best invitations are personal.
A quick text, a coffee conversation, or a simple invitation over lunch often means far more than sending a generic link.
You don't need a speech. Just let them know why you're inviting them.
"I'm checking out Alpha this fall. I thought of you because I know we've talked about faith before. Would you want to come with me?"
Ask One Simple Question
Instead of feeling like you have to explain everything about Alpha, simply ask.
One approach we love is the "If I... would you?" invitation.
If I sent you a one-minute video about Alpha, would you watch it?
If I saved you a seat, would you come with me?
If I picked you up, would you join me?
Simple questions make it easy for someone to say yes—or no—without feeling pressured.
Tell Them What to Expect
Most people aren't nervous about Alpha. They're nervous about the unknown.
Help remove the mystery by explaining what a typical evening looks like:
We'll share a meal together.
We'll watch a short video.
We'll have an honest conversation.
Nobody is forced to talk.
Every question is welcome.
Alpha is designed to be a safe place to explore faith without pressure or judgment.
Go Together
Walking into a room full of strangers can be the hardest part.
Offer to meet beforehand, ride together, or save them a seat. Sometimes the invitation isn't what gives someone courage—the companionship is.
Leave the Results to God
Your job isn't to convince someone. Your job is simply to invite.
Whether someone says yes, no, or "maybe later," trust that God is working in ways you may never see.
One invitation can change a life.
