STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem
Luke 23:27-31

Join us in a journey of reflection through The Stations of the Cross—a powerful practice that invites us to walk through the moments leading up to Jesus’ death.

We encourage you to pause for a moment and read through the following scripture and prayer.

Luke 23:27-31 (NLT)

27 A large crowd trailed behind, including many grief-stricken women. 28 But Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don’t weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For the days are coming when they will say, ‘Fortunate indeed are the women who are childless, the wombs that have not borne a child and the breasts that have never nursed.’ 30 People will beg the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and plead with the hills, ‘Bury us.’ 31 For if these things are done when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

Prayer

Dear Lord,

Even as you walked, burdened, and labored toward the cross, you saw those who grieved and you cared for them. In the midst of our mourning, our pain, our hurting, our loss you draw near; you see us and care for us. May we tangibly feel your comfort. May we also be spurred on, even in the midst of our own burdensome journeys, to see and care for those who are grieving.

Amen.

The prayer today was thoughtfully crafted by our reGROUP & Student Ministry Coordinator, Katie Holland.

Take this prayer and meditate on it throughout the rest of the day.
