For Sam, Summit is a place of community.
Sam Foth grew up in New Jersey and attended Catholic church with his family. They went to service every Sunday.
In 2022, Sam moved to Orlando to attend the University of Central Florida, and in December 2025, he graduated with his Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Media Production.
Sam’s Summit journey began on Sunday, January 18th, 2026, when he attended the service "A New Way of Life", week two in Summit's series "A Year Through John." It had been 15 years since he had last attended church regularly. Sam was incredibly moved by this church service, as he learned more about creation and building a new life through God. "Our existence is not an accident. We were made on purpose for a purpose by God," said Sam as he talked about his key takeaways from that Sunday.
He decided to make this the beginning of his commitment to rebuild his relationship with God. Sam continued to attend Summit in the following weeks and found time to connect with others at the church, including having coffee with Chris Timson, Orlando’s Campus Minister. Sam loved the strong community aspect of Summit and how dedicated the leadership team was to caring for everyone who attends.
Sam also started attending Rooted, a 10-week program where group members met every Thursday night to discuss their assigned readings from the week, share their personal stories, and pray for one another. Sam found the Rooted course to be very helpful with growing his own faith and he enjoyed helping others do the same. He also found that it was a great way to make more connections with people, outside of the Sunday services.
Hobbies and Interests
Sam has a passion for photography and videography. Growing up, he dreamed of becoming a filmmaker someday. This passion began when his mom passed down her old camera to him. Sam loves to take pictures and videos to create stories for individuals and organizations. Today, he continues to showcase these skills by serving on the media team at Summit for photography and videography. He’s also a part of the team that livestreams the services on YouTube Sunday mornings.
Faith and Spiritual Growth
Sam enjoys beginning his day with a morning prayer. He knows that whatever happens in the day, good or bad, God will always be in control. He enjoys reading his Bible in the morning, setting aside time to read one chapter and one psalm.
Serving with the videography team at Summit has also been one of the ways Sam grows his faith. He enjoys providing a way for guests to learn and worship, even if they are unable to attend service in person. In addition, he enjoys helping with the social media team. He believes that social media can be a great platform for showcasing God's work in the Orlando community and inspiring people to follow the way of Jesus.
As his faith journey continues, Sam took his next right step by getting baptized at Summit's Beach Baptism this spring.
