THROUGH WATER DEVOTIONAL

Week 1 | Day 3

Nicodemus: The Water that Cleanses

Light

My darkest season lasted several weeks. The process took some time because deep wounds tend to take time to heal. There were mental barriers that needed to break so the Holy Spirit could begin to work. There were past traumas I needed to acknowledge so I could see them clearly and surrender them to Christ. I had to understand that there were still things holding me to the person I used to be — the person who had gotten me into so many problems.

I had to adjust my attitude to follow the light that was now illuminating my path.

When Nicodemus understands that new birth is real, darkness stops being a refuge and becomes a beginning. Sadly, many stories of true transformation begin in darkness. Now that I look back from a distance, having overcome that season, I realize that it was precisely through that darkness that I was able to grow even more and feel gratitude for the healing God was doing in me. I was no longer the same. I had been restored by that Light that does not expose us to shame, but guides us and illuminates our path in love.
