THROUGH WATER DEVOTIONAL
Week 2 | Day 3
John the Baptist: The Water that Makes Christ Grow in Me
Life
When I returned to storytelling, that was when my true church life began. Even though I already belonged to a small group, I wasn’t very involved in the community. Nothing is ever accidental.
To be honest, I used to sit in the last rows during services, wherever there were fewer people. That was Mr. Ego acting through me (although at the time I didn’t know him yet; the reference appears in Day 1 of this week). My motivation was wrong, but I knew I needed Jesus. I knew I needed to start living… truly living.
And I’ve come to realize that stepping into that kind of life requires something deeper—obedience rooted in love. It’s not always easy, but choosing to follow Jesus and surrender control is where real life truly begins.
When we let go, we begin to flow in faith, and He starts to grow within us. When we surrender our little kingdoms with humility — like water — just as He is.
Holding on to Jesus means letting go of everything that prevents the Holy Spirit from growing in us
