WEEK 3 | PEACE

A Different Kind of Calm

Take a few minutes today to read through the following scripture, short message, and reflect on the takeaway below.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

3 You will keep in perfect peace
    all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV); Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

Shalom - the true peace that comes from being in right relationship with God, others, creation, and ourselves - is the deepest craving for most of us. The truth is, peace isn’t found in a quiet room or a problem-free life—it’s found in the presence of God. When Paul wrote to the Philippians, he wasn’t sitting in a beach chair—he was sitting in a prison cell. And yet he spoke of a peace that “guards” us, like a soldier at post, standing watch over our hearts and minds. Isaiah reminds us that peace is not something we achieve, but something we receive when our trust is firmly placed in God. This kind of peace doesn’t always change our circumstances, but it changes us within them.
