STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Jesus Falls a Third Time
Join us in a journey of reflection through The Stations of the Cross—a powerful practice that invites us to walk through the moments leading up to Jesus’ death.
We encourage you to pause for a moment and read through the following prayer.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
How heavy was that cross? The plank of wood carved into what would eventually become a symbol of hope has also amassed the weight of our transgressions. Its heaviness has caused you to fall yet again. Oh Lord, the deep contrition that befalls upon my heart, for I know that I am complicit at this moment. The sin etched in the wood on your back also carries my sin. You carry every time I have missed the mark. You carry the apathy that invades my soul. You also carried what I could not. My sin, too mighty for human shoulders, needed the strength of the Messiah. So, I know that even as you stumbled to your purpose, you are truly the only one who could have done it. You fell so that grace may catch me when I fall.
Amen.
The prayer today was thoughtfully crafted by our Student Minister, Johnny Outing.
Take this prayer and meditate on it throughout the rest of the day.
